Generally the Examination for the Indian Administration service is conducted as Civil services Exam .There is no separate examination for IAS .Civil services exam is conducted yearly for 23 Higher official postings including IAS , IPS ,IFS etc .The exam is conducted by "Union Public Service Commission"
The civil services exam has three levels
1. Prelimnary level
2. Main Examination
3. Interview
Those who pass in all three levels will get postings in one of the 23 categories depending on the marks they get .Those who score high in the civil services exam will be appointed as collectors
